Ok been using 2000 adv server for about two years and was happy till i decided to upgrade to XP Server 2003, downloaded the trial from microsoft upgraded my instalation, cool. I decide i like it and would do a full re-install (mistake) so booted from the cd cleared partition went fine to first re-boot and then sat watching the logo and the animated activity bar and then after an age Boom! stop error 0x0000006f session_3_initialization_error,i never even got to put in the cd key I read all the threads i could and tried and tried but no cant do it... So my question is why will it install every time perfectly as an upgrade but not as a complete reinstall. if i knew that then i would be able to get a bit further maybe. i had found a MSDN article http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...2kmsgs/1216.asp but it is vague about what system files may be the problem, just giving smss.exe as an example, and having replaced that with no joy im inclined to think that this is not the file responsible, but having no other examples im now at a loss, if it turned out to be a driver then i would still be at a loss because the hard drive was re-partioned and re-formatted by the instalation and so any problem drivers must have been integral to the install cd, this takes out my choice so i have no idea what it is, im sure i am not the only one with this problem but MS give such vague proceedures that who could follow them a list of possible files may be a good start
