"Media Sink" problem cannot get videos to run.Configuration:
Hello All!

My system consists of the following:
Win98SE
Compaq 5301
Memory 384MB
AMD K6-380Mhz.

I recently re-installed the OS after the original HD on the computer crashed and did not appear usable.

I installed a 100GB HD. The original BIOS does not support a HD over 8GB and I did not upgrade the BIOS as of yet.

I installed Windows Media Player 9 and RealPlayer 10 on my present system. However, I could not get either of them to run properly. If I attempted to use either I would get a message indicating the media (Audio Visual and Audio) were either connecting or getting ready to play the media but I could never get them to play.

After pulling up the "Close program" window I would see that either WMP or RP was not responding. I would elect to close them. The "Close Program" window would close but then the entire computer would freeze and I would have to reboot. :(

If I elected to close the player from the computer screen without opening the "Close program" window and then attempted to restart the computer a window would come up indicating that a "media sink event"was still open. After clicking on the end button. The window would not close and the computer would freeze. :(

Never had this problem before.

Can anyone explain what is going on and how to correct the problem?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses!!!
