Try going into Device manager remove the cdrom in there and reboot and let windows pick it up then reload the drivers when prompted

Mine doesn't work either and it is recongnised in dos and bootup. I have removed the drive controller because their is no CDROM in the Device Settings. Still, when it reinstalls, NOTHING.

There is no cd drive to remove! The problem is in the IDE, i just don't understand it! Read the first post!!

on my Compaq armada m300 everything is running well but the problem is, it says please insert win98 cd, when inserted it then says d:\ is not accessible, the device is not ready. It says that to all cds that were inserted. can you please help me, thanks |

mine doesnt have the cdrom thingy to remove, and i had it working before, untill i installed another hard drive, ever scince then it reconises the cd rom on start up but then if i go into my computer it doesnt have the cdrom drive reconised, any help? thanks |

I am having the same problem. The CD Drive shows up under settings in the Device Manager, and it says that it's working properly; however, I can not access the drive. It reports "Device not ready". Above that it says "d:/ is not accessible". |

Ok my cd rom is recognised in puter start up and in dos, but when i go to the device manager its not there, its not in my computer either (win98se) and can access it in doss mode also and see whats on the cd but nothing not even the d:/ sign shows in my computer or divice manager.. please help... |

delete the following in the registry
Upper & Lower Filter
