Password protect registry folder?Configuration:
I have Kazaa on my family computer, and have the filter password protected to prevent my children from accessing adult content. I recently discovered that my son found out what the password is by going into the registry and looking it up. I don't want to uninstall Kazaa, so is there any way to lock him out of that one registry folder?
Also, is there any way to add terms to the adult filter? There are some words I would like it to block that it doesn't.
Operating System : Windows ME

Type regedit in the run menu and bring up the registry editor. Now Click on and highlight any registry key or folder that you do not want to allow acces to. Then click Edit> Permissions and deny access to all user except your account. Then password protect Windows logon and let your son login under one of the restricted accounts.

I did as you said, but when I clicked on Edit, there was no Permissions there. Now what?

topgun has winME, it doesn't work like winXP. I don't think it can be done in ME.

topgun1852,
"I recently discovered that my son found out what the password is by going into the registry and looking it up."
Well, you could disable the registry tools. Here, is a file, to help you do it. Then put the file away, for safe keeping. Like on your EBD (Emergency Boot Disk). You might even want to make that file hidden. :-) Just a thought.
Might be useful, then again, maybe not.
Good Luck

Albert,
I just emailed it with my pop3 account. Let me know if it comes through, if so it's a Hotmail problem with your address not your email address itself.
Please use the "Alert Me" button in the top right hand corner of this post if I can assist you further.

On the permissions menu, disable the results filter folder from inheriting parent permissions, then deny all permissions to anyone on the machine to that folder. (This means you won't be able to change it either) but if you either a.)know the password or b.) don't want to remove the filter, this should work for you. I had to set the filter again, but then it worked.
