WinME re-install without uninstall?Configuration:
If I install WinME over the original WinME will I lose me files (digital pics, music, etc)? I plan to eventually erase the hard drive and reinstall everything, but I would like to be able to get my computer to open Windows so I can save my important files first. I haven't been able to open Windows since I ran a virus scan and after that I got a message saying "Explorer.exe was missing, Reinstall Windows") Any help would be appreciated, deb

Thank you for your reply.
The problem is that I cannot backup any files - my computer won't open. It's a Dell Dimension and I have all the software for a re-install (which the Dell techs are going to walk me thru) after erasing the hard drive.
I'm just really upset about losing some of my files and was wondering if re-installing Windows would help me at least get access to them so I can back them up.
Should I take it to a computer store where they recover data? deb
