Old server was having Windows NT and we changed it all into a new server ML350 T03 with Windows 2000 Server and migrated the data. 9 clients are there with Windows XP SP2 except 2 old clients with Windows 2000 and the other with Windows 98.a frequent problem happens where upon clicking on the server folders from a client it takes quite a while before opening the folder or giving the message “access is denied” and then opening folders becomes faster. In this case we have noted that right clicking properties of any shortcut on the desktop also takes long time before opening.this problem continues even after going for Microsoft Update. other problem is that we open a network folder on the domain clients and we receive the message “no logon server currently available to validate the logon request” although the rights are given.
A third issue is with folders sharing on the clients, the domain user names are not refreshing immediately when we go for a new share or an existing share.all network cards, data switch, and cables are properly installed and in a working condition. We have configured DNS and WINS in the server and have disbled QoS Packet Scheduler in clients for better performance.
anyone came across such a problem??? when we return the old server with Windows NT we face non of the above problems!!
