Win 2000 Pro permissions troubleConfiguration:
I recently made some chages to the services.exe file and now windows loads very slow. The icons for the desktop does not come up at all and I get an error message saying useinit.exe will not work. How can I get access to the admin account so that I can set the permissions back to what they are suppose to be so i will have full access. I don't have the win 2000 cd but I do have the 4 start up disks.
Operating System : windows 2000 pro
CPU/Processor : 1.2ghz 300 ram
RAM : 1.2ghz 300 ram

Booting into safe mode should give you administrator privledges. Make any changes in safe mode and then re-boot normaly. If that doesn't work you might try extracting a fresh copy of the corrupted files, from a WIndows 2K cd, to it's appropriate directory. If you don't have access to a 2000 cd, email me and I'll extract it and send it to you.
Please use the "Alert Me" button in the top right hand corner of this post if I can assist you further.
