I keep getting a blue screen that says:"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.""If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, then restart your computer.Technical information:*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE,0xEF3F2080,0xEF3F1D7C,0xE2189FBF)Beginning Dump of physical memoryPhysical memory dump complete.Contact your administrator or technical support group for further assistance."I have tried what the message says but it still comes back.. Any suggestions...This is on a Dell Inspiron 1100 Notebook.

hey dude...jus use the chkdsk /r and chkdsk /p ur problem will be sorted out..but its doesn';t work out then u have to reinstall the windows....but to protect ur data. dont format the system jus reinstall windows at the same location e.g. c:/windows and ur data will be saved.till then keep rockin and let me know if u can't |

I beg to differ, the error msg is the key to fixing the problem. it very much matters what it is. thats where you start at.there is lots of hope.head over( ifyou can to http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.... will see on the left hand side your error msg, specifically # 24.0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1543.)A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step; then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. In some sense it doesn't matter what the error message says. if you see the blue screen of death then you pretty much at a full stop.If you added any hardware then remove it and restart the computer. if you didn't then you will need to reinstall windows. You may have a virus! So check it for viruses first. If you have valueable data on the disk then you may need to connect this hard drive to another computer to get the data off.Ble screen errors are usually unrecoverable.Try restarting and pressing F8 and choosing one of those lovely startup options like safe mode, safe mode with command prompt. You may be able to copy soem files onto a floppy disk. |

hey guys Im a begginner and I've got the same problem but can someone please tell me how to run chkdsk/f, my computer wont even start in safe mode can I do this from set up menu when I push F8 and how can I reinstall my windows cd |
