Re: Power Schemes Problem by jam14o on April 11th, 2004 10:09:09 PM Unless you modified the Registry, it's impossible for you to delete all of the entries. There should be at least one which you can Save As and then redefine the settings for it. Click Apply and then click OK. Changes will take immediate effect.

Re: Power Schemes Problem by on April 12th, 2004 06:23:14 AM I cldn't have modified the Registry. Other than that I don't know what else I cld have done inadvertently to cause the drop-down menu to become totally empty. If only one entry is still there, then things wld be fine as you described. What do I do to put back at least one entry now? Thks & rgds/Henry

Re: Power Schemes Problem by jam14o on April 12th, 2004 05:48:58 PM It might have been a program that has deleted it for you. How nice of it... lol I've uploaded a registry file to my web site which should restore a power scheme called Home/Office Desk. However, I've taken this directly from my Windows XP registry so I'm not sure it will work 100%. Get the file here. Post back the results, James

Re: Power Schemes Problem by on April 12th, 2004 07:38:56 PM Thk u so much James. Based on your reply I logged in as a different user whose Power Schemes has a complete drop-down menu and went to look at its HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Control Panel | PowerCfg | PowerPolicies. I then logged in as the user whose drop-down menu in Power Schemes was empty as I mentioned before and went to its HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Control Panel | PowerCfg | PowerPolicies. I amended the sub-keys there based on what I saw earlier. And hurray! The problem was gone. U are marvellous! Millions of thanks. B rgds/Henry

Re: Power Schemes Problem by Anonymous Ghost on August 21st, 2004 12:46:10 PM Hi this problem happened to me too, and i just wanted to say that this was a great help! Chears! |
Re: Power Schemes Problem by Anonymous Ghost on December 29th, 2004 09:44:37 PM Thanks jam14o! I have a Dell XPS computer and it lost all power schemes after having problem of not going into standby. To use the solution suggested by Henry, I created a new user. Typed in regedit in the new user and saved the HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Control Panel | PowerCfg | PowerPolicies to my C: drive and then went back to the original user ID with the problem and (saved all the registry keys to make sure!) then I deleted the old HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Control Panel | PowerCfg | PowerPolicies and simply imported the one created by the other user. Worked like a charm. |
