Software Distribution Service 2.0Configuration:
I woke up yesterday morning and was unable to access either my Hotmail or Yahoo Mail accounts. I'm able to get to the login page for both, but when I enter my login/pass I get the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message. Otherwise, I seem to be able to access all other sites.I checked system restore and noticed that a "Software Distribution Service 2.0" had been installed at 3:00 am the previous night. I did a SR to before its installation and everything seemed to work fine. I was able to login to Hotmail and Yahoo Mail perfectly. However, it is happening every night at 3:00 am. The same update is being installed and the same problem occurs the next morning. I'd like to find a fix for this that doesn't involve doing a SR every morning. Operating System : Windows XP

I noticed the SDS had been added when I tried to do a system restore because of problem with recognition of blank discs in either CD-Rom or the CD/DVD Writer drive. I tried restore before the SDS first appeared and got the message that I couldn't. Really curious where this SDS came from, what it supposedly does, and how to get rid of it.

I, too, have had SDS 2.0 installed, but I have a XP SP1 OS, and can't restore past the SDS 2. Can I just delete it, or at least the folder it's in? It sure isn't on the "add/remove programs" list. Any clues?I would rather not do a system recovery, if at all possible

The easiest way i can think of is to turn off updates.

I called microsoft and I was told to disable the updates.
I was not able to run my printer software after software distribution 2.0 update. I had to do system restore

I'm a tech support at work, had an employee call today with problems on a Dell, getting a totally white page when trying to navigate the Internet. Same happened with opening MS Word documents. I read your descriptions of Software Dist. Serv. 2.0 and found it downloaded on 1-13-07. Did a system restore back to 1-12-07. Helped, but now all the toolbars, favorites, etc. are missing on IE. Computer was restarting slowly. UNINSTALLED IE7 through add/remove programs and now everything is working perfectly. I suggest doing the system restore first to a date prior to the Software Dist. Serv. 2.0 (check all dates for the past thirty days to find the first install). Then uninstall IE7. Cyn
