| A duzy! Login screen loops | Configuration: |
Need some help please, very odd problem. When I log into windows 2000 Pro (enter username and password) the Windows music plays and I get the 'loading personal settings' box, then the O/S kicks me right back to the login screen. I get the music, the loading personal settings and I can see my desktop background briefly everytime before it kicks me back to the login screen. I have tried safe mode, domain controllers, last known good configuration and they all do the exact same thing. I have also run the repair option from the CD 4 times and it has no effect. Is there a command or a function from the repair console I might try? I cannot afford to try something and lose any data, I have some much needed data. Any ideas? Greatly appreciate all help. Thanks very much. Brad brad@theacbc.com

Re: A duzy! Login screen loops by tomspe on April 15th, 2004 03:42:11 AM Which repair option did you use on the CD? When you boot from CD, do not choose to repair, choose to install instead. Press F8 for licence agreement. Windows 2000 setup will find existing install, and ask if you want to repair. Now press R to repair. I have also encountered this problem, which was caused by a corrupt user profile. Does this happen with all users trying to log on to this machine? Renaming the user's profile folder from the recovery console will force Windows to create a new user profile.
