NTLDR is missing by rodders19615 on July 01st, 2005 12:41:05 PM Windows XP usersInsert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer. Configure bios to boot from the CD.When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.copy e:i386ntldr c:copy e:i386ntdetect.com c:Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot. |
NTLDR is missing by ronco13134 on May 26th, 2005 12:19:00 AM I had the same problem! booted to CD, copied NTLDR to C:,...Nadda, still missing!did everything I could think of or find on the net!Wrote 0's to the drive, the whole drive, did a fresh install, started a backup, got BSOD rebooting too NTLDR not found AGAIN! tried reinstalling and several different backups,...all the same outcome! The only thing that stopped it was resetting the BIOS, and starting over!To reset BIOS on most machines you have to hit a key at a certain point EARLY in the boot, before windows or even NTLDR! On my machine its f8!GOOD LUCK! |

NTLDR is missing by fitzov3 on May 15th, 2005 01:39:33 PM you must have had the bios configured incorrectly in the first place. |
NTLDR is missing by cyclone3 on May 14th, 2005 12:09:22 PM This happened to me and I ended up reformatting and getting really frustrated because the problem STILL did not go away. I finially fixed it by resetting the BIOS. Try that first!! resetting the BIOS will not make you lose any information and it is probably easier than anything else you could try. I recommend doing it before messing with your XP installation.-CycloneReal Friends Stab You in the Front |

I have taken all my files off my computer (thankfully) because I was GOING TO sell it today :(
There may have been a CDRom in the drive when i shut it down, but I took it out and no change, I have not deleted any windows files, do not have the Windows discs (secondhand computer),and my floppy drive is out of order (never used it so I never thought about it).
What can I do? I think I may have changed something in the BIOS (oh dear), because it took me to that section and I looked through.
On the plus side, I have another computer in the house running XPpro as well, so can I get the missing file from THAT computer and put it on a CDRom and the reboot the computer from that?
How would I go about it?
Somebody please help before I tear out all my hair (I wouldn't look very nice bald).
I recently gave in to the flashing message about windows updates and did some updating, but other than those things, I can't think of anything else that may have caused the problem.
i have had no problems until now.
I have disconnected everything but the mouse keyboard, moniter and harddrive.
so what now? |
