C:$Secure is corrupt?Configuration:
A message keeps appearing that reads, "The file or directory C:$Secure is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.Can anyone give me any advice? I have no idea what to do. I just inherited this Compaq laptop with Microsoft XP from my sister and this problem won't go away. Operating System : Windows XP

which would indicate it never completed. I would suggest you backup any data you want to keep.Your next stop very well maybe format and reinstall.before that though I would download the drive manufactures diagnostic utilities and run them to make sure your disk drive is OK.Golly gee wilerkers everyone. I did run the chkdsk, it did nothing. It runs automaticall now everytime I turn on the computer.

Run chkdsk.You do this by going to a cmd prompt and typing chkdsk /f and answering yes to the question. Exit and reboot. Check disk will run.Report back when complete.Golly gee wilerkers everyone! Learn to Internet Search

i ran chkdsk after getting this C:\$Secure error, but now my chkdsk utility won't stop running. it goes through all the steps, reboots, then does it again, it's been doing this for 10 hours now....
