Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 21st, 2004 08:49:30 AM The best way I have found is to do a regedit.
Go under:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, RunOnce. This is where the rundll.exe is calling the bridge.dll. Remove this entry. Additionally, what I have found, is that just starting KaZaA, is adding this entry back in. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 22nd, 2004 03:20:40 PM On my Windows XP computer it is located at C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\bridge.dll. Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 24th, 2004 07:00:13 AM I have currently been experiencing problems with a missing bridge.dll file. My uncle informed me that this is a file that a spy or adware programme leaves behind. He instructed me to download Spybot Search & Destroy, run the scan and delete everything. Eversince then no messages when computer start-up, Microsoft Hearts game works perfectly and other programs run with no faults. Hope this will shed light on your problems. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 24th, 2004 10:19:53 AM Hi all, I had the same problem as above, get a program called RegSeeker from here: http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
it fixed the problem on the first run. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 25th, 2004 03:46:28 AM Does anyone know what bridge.dll actually does? I tried removing it from my comp but I can't and I tried removing it from the startup but it keeps putting itself back. |

Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on March 31st, 2004 01:46:56 PM You can also use MSCONFIG (via Start -> Run -> MSConfig) and under the Startup Tab you'll see the listing for Bridge.dll, you can unselect it from there and it won't run on boot up. |

Adware.WinFavorites is an adware program that may have two components: an executable file and a Browser Helper Object.
When Adware.WinFavorites is executed, it does the following:
Attempts to insert the files:
bridge.dll
bridge.inf
Creates the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\
Browser Helper Objects\{9C691A33-7DDA-4C2F-BE4C-C176083F35CF}
Adds the value:
"Systray"=""

# Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove WinFavorites manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If Bazooka still detects WinFavorites after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.
Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
In the right pane, delete the value called 'WinFavorites', if it exists.
Exit the registry editor.
Restart your computer.
Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%ProgramsDir%\winfavorites\
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.

Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by thunderbutt66 on April 01st, 2004 05:44:25 PM Hello everyone,
I have the same problem as others in here with the bridge.dll.
But mine says, "C:\WINDOWSDownloaded Program Files\bridge.dll".
Mine comes up when I log onto my Windows XP computer. I've tried
all the things listed above. When I use hijack this & check the
box for it, how do you "delete it", It doesn't have a place for
that?? I've gone into start>run>msconfig>startup> and unchecked
the box & when i reboot the system it get another pop-box when it
restarts stating that i have changed the system configuration. I
have also done start>run>regedit & start>run>regedit>edit>find ...
how can you delete OR get rid of it from there??... I do not know
alot about this kind of stuff, but i just looked this up by searching
the web & found these forums & went by what they said & they don't
work.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME, i have just reformatted my hard drive
recently & would like to keep my computer running GREAT like it was
B4 this.
thx, thunderbutt66 |

Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 06th, 2004 05:09:54 AM Hi, I also used the program RegSeeker from: http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
It fixed also the problem on the first run. This is a GREAT program, and rather easy to use. It also solved an other problem: When closing Windows XP Home down with ServicePack2 the Run32.dll would not close down on its on. This problem disapeared by using RegSeeker :-)

I have the same problem. by Anonymous Ghost on April 06th, 2004 10:10:20 AM I found the bridge.dll in my registry so I don't understand why it is "unable to locate bridge.dll" as it stattes in the error box at startup. I see that it is one of the startup items. I tried un-checking it as a startup item and now get a different error box saying Windows is starting up in service mode. So I went back and checked it in my startup menu again. How do I get an entry out of the list of startup items --not by unchecking it but by deleting the entire entry in the startup list? |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 06th, 2004 12:22:15 PM don't enable it again!
You can turn off the warning that you are running in "service mode"
should be an option in msconfig (or even the warning screen itself) this is perfectly normal. Standard warning from windows to notify you that certain services aren't started. (pretty useless tho :) ) |
Thanks but what I did is use SYSTEM MECAHNIC to turn it off in the start menu. by Anonymous Ghost on April 06th, 2004 02:56:24 PM I deleted bridge.dll from the registry but it still showed up when I started the computer as the error. I highly recommend System Mechanic as an excellent piece of software. It is the best easiest way to turn off programs from starting up. Now how do I keep this from getting onto my machine again? I've only had this computer for one month and had about 50 spyware programs on it already that Ad-Aware eraased. This one was the nastiest and I've spent 2 days working on getting rid of it! System Mechanic shows it as a disabled startup item. I'm glad it is disabled finally, just wondering if there wasn't some way to not even have it as a disabled startup item, off my machine ine every possible sense? I hate that thing! |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 06th, 2004 08:08:31 PM Ghost,
Simply go to START > RUN > Type in Regedit. At the top you'll see at tab for "Edit" - click that and "Find" type in bridge.dll. It should find a bridge.dll in a Run key. Click on the bridge.dll entry in the RIGHT side panel and then right click and delete.
Then push f-3 key to search for another bridge.dll entry. There should be 2 of them. Delete the key as above and search again.
When the screen says it's finished searching just close Regedit and reboot. It should be gone from disabled items and from MSCONFIG.
BTW, System Mechanic is a *dangerous* piece of software! It can screw up your entire system. It's far better to learn a bit about the registry and OS than it is to rely on software to fix problems. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 07th, 2004 08:17:40 AM I tried this too. But I found a third entry in my regtistry for bridge.dll. Under ModuleUsage in my left side panel in regedit. Should I remove this too? |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 07th, 2004 10:19:52 AM Part of Keylog-Briss (trojan). Bridge2explorer (bridge.dll) uses explorer to pass firewalls. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 07th, 2004 06:27:32 PM i downloaded bazooka spyware and followed it's step by step and it took about 15 mins and it worked out at the end and everything is A o'kay! i no longer see it anywhere!!! hope this helps. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by nonsence on April 07th, 2004 07:34:50 PM i installed a piece of software for changing folder icons under windows and now have this bridge.dll crap too. although mine problem is worst. i no longer even have internet access now. i managed to go through a LONG process of scanning files with all the programs listed in this forum and a few more. i even had the lycos search bar in IE6 installed. as well as some .new domain client or whatever, a wupdate.exe and a few others. now everything is gone, i'm pritty sure but i don't have internet. i get the error in the cli for ipconfig /renew
an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket
anyone know what to do? i tried even reinstalling tcp/ip which took some time but i did it. still no internet. i'm using linux on my dual boot system to fix windoze. what a surprise. damn spyware/adware.....hate it |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 07th, 2004 09:55:26 PM Yeah, the same problem, but i have windows 98, which steps should I follow to have the pc working correctly again.
Thks Mat |
System Mechanic is NOT dangerous, I've used it for 5 years ...... by Anonymous Ghost on April 08th, 2004 02:10:41 PM on my old Windows 98 machine and now I just used it to delete un-needed items from the registry on my new Windows XP machine. Why would you knock it when I am someone with 5 happy years using it?It works absolutely perfectly with never one problem. I recommended it to a friend and it was the only way on his old Windows 95 machine he could edit the startup items. The one other piece of software I would NEVER be without it GOBACK!!! I just installed it (version 3.0) on my new machine. I got it cheap (used) from Amazon. I have permanently disabled System Resore. Goback will save you from any disaster every time. I have also used this for 5 years. System Mechanic deleted about 50 items from my registry that were not needed. I know all about editing registries but I am not going to wade through the hundreds of items for many hours and examine every one when System Mechanic does a perfect job in a couple of minutes. I use it for this every couple of months before I defragment. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 08th, 2004 06:04:18 PM its rly rly bad its part of a backdoor virus which everything you type into your keyboard gets recorded and sent to a remote computer!!! u need to delete it... |

Instead of posting your entire registry here......... by Anonymous Ghost on April 10th, 2004 01:08:11 AM are you really going to edit your registry based on what some anonymous stranger here tells you? If someone here tells you to delete the 26th line of your registry are you going to do it??? Not a real good idea. First run Ad-Aware and make sure you run the built in updater for it first. Then go to CNET.com and download System Mechanic and run the registry cleaner. I have used this program for 5 years. It is the BEST. Please do NOT remove items from your registry based on what some stranger here tells you to do! |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 10th, 2004 01:22:41 AM thanks for the advice!! Probably a good idea!! THANKS!! |
It looks like you have AOL. I found that it did all sorts of strange things to m by Anonymous Ghost on April 10th, 2004 04:35:42 PM AOL really takes over your system! |
I will also never again use Norton Systemworks!....... by Anonymous Ghost on April 10th, 2004 04:38:11 PM It made me have to get rid of my old computer due to, after defragmenting with it, I got repeated blue screens with the "error: cannot write to hard drive." In other words, the hard drive was fried. |
Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on April 11th, 2004 01:35:46 AM I think this is also added when IMesh is started. This one is smart... Ad-Aware finds it, but needs to reboot to remove it. TRhe unit reboots, rescans, but doesn't find anything. |

Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by thuha on April 16th, 2004 09:57:49 PM go to Search to find the file name :
rundll32.exe That's the file that controll all your system.
DELETE IT or else it will stick to the bridge.dll file which is harmless. |

Re: What the hell is Bridge.dll? by Anonymous Ghost on January 18th, 2005 07:55:50 PM I had the same problem, caused by winfavourites related adwares. I downloaded and ran MicroSoftAntiSpyware(Beta 1) and followed the malicious files removal instructions. On re-booting the computer the rundll error : Bridge.dll not found message was gone |
