| my modem won't shut up! | Configuration: |
|
when i upgraded an hp 6648c from win98se to win2k pro.....my modem sounds started coming out of the main speakers.....i have tried every combo of the ATM0 and M0 that i can think of.....this particular hp has a sound card/modem combo.....it's conexant with a rockwell chip and my sound card uses riptide drivers......i used the drivers recommended for win2k......i've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers several times.....it seems to only want to install riptide drivers and no generic windows ones.....i'd really like to hear sounds again when i am online instead of keeping my pc on mute all the time.....any ideas?

Re: my modem won't shut up! by Anonymous Ghost on January 07th, 2004 04:32:40 AM I am having the same problem. I've tried everything - setting the volume to zero in the MODEM settings and adding ATM0 or M0 (zero) to the initialization string. Anyone? |
Quiet, little modem! by Anonymous Ghost on January 06th, 2005 08:53:15 AM IT should be through here: Internet Connection Setup
Click on Start, Control Panel, then Network Connections. Right click on your Internet connection & select Properties. Then select Configure button."
You need to get to a screen that says "Modem Configuration." DESELECT the little box on the bottom that says "enable modem speaker."
The default is that this setting is ticked, to enable the speaker on the Modem to emit sound while dialing.
Hope this helps; it was a huge nuisance for me as well! |
