Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on January 12th, 2004 09:40:10 AM Do a search on your C drive for SAHuninstall.exe. It will probably be in your Windows directory. Run that file and then reboot your system. That will get rid of the problem. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on January 13th, 2004 06:29:42 PM I have the same agent installed and now my IE is unable to open any pages...keep getting DNS error...is that caused by the SAH Agent? How to remove it and restore IE? |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on January 24th, 2004 12:35:40 PM I had this problem also until 15th december 2003 and I decided to format my HD in january to be sure that I have deleted all.
I think that it had arrived with a download free file. You can perhaps with the installation date what you have done at this date.
Check also if you have a file named optimize.exe?
Anyway,good luck

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on February 16th, 2004 05:21:33 PM yea, i just went to the task manager, then processes tab, found the sah agent process, end process, then deleted anything that had the search found w/ the name word sah in it. i don't trust uninstallers that come w/ programs i don't conciously downoad, ya know? so that did it. plus, i ran the uninstaller, and it made a text file that said it had been shut down (although i still couldn't delete the sah agent file) but it also said, "set timer for 24 hours" which made me skeptical. by the way, what IS sah agent anyway? |

Could you please tell me how to solve this problem?
you should have used its uninstaller as mentioned in first comment here
Anyway here is the solution: run the setup of Internet Explorer again and everything will be fine. Replace all files even if new ones are present in your hdd when it asks during the installtion. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on May 07th, 2004 02:30:50 PM if your unlucky SAH agent will kick in and randomly shut your computer down, there was a similar 'VIRUS' (yes virus) a few years back, the solution to truly remove it was very long winded and a fix was not forthcoming for a long time. To the person who made the first post, you have bigger problems, 4th line down is another virus, im sure youve heard of it by now |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on May 08th, 2004 02:18:35 PM I had SAH Agent awhile ago, too. I think it was downloaded by some sort of automatic update type of program. Anyway, I deleted it, and it came back. I ran a spyware fix program, and it came back again. So I just nuked everything and reformatted my hard drive, reloaded Windows 98 and all my software, you know the routine. So far that's fixed the problem. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on May 27th, 2004 11:16:58 PM Just run Ad-aware and it will all be gone... DO NOT have to format and re-install. That's just silly. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on May 30th, 2004 10:38:59 PM SAH Agent wont do any harm as such it is just a headache, The company name of the product is ITForum. It is shop at home software. And it installs itself through pop ups. Either run the ad-ware product or manually delete it form your system. then run a search over your harddrive to make sure all the files are gone. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on June 01st, 2004 06:22:22 PM kill the SahAgent program that is running using the task mamanger
next find all the files that have the same name. Use spy-bot secure shredder tool to delete all the files and then run the spy bot tool that will correct the registry |

No its not, lsass.exe is a windows component..
And for everyone having trouble with internet connection after removign this SAH Agent, run through Microsoft Knowledge Base Article # 811259, All the other info here is great in intentions, but not all of it is useful (and some is even harmful) |

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on December 26th, 2004 06:55:25 PM I had SAH agent installed & it5 left my IE not displaying pages. This was due to the TCP/IP being corrupt as it was using SAH agent versions. I had deleted all the agent files but it had left the TCPIP. deleted the winsock / winsock 2 keys in registry then re installed TCPIP as per knowledge base article 811259. My internet is now running ok. |
Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on December 29th, 2004 05:52:52 PM Geesh, be easier. If you've been infected with the SAH Agent tracker application. Just ask one of your friends to locate the following 2 keys in the registry. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinSock2
Tell them to EXPORT These items to their desktop, name them winsock1, and winsock2 - have them send them to You, reboot. Then go back to the registry, lookup the previous 2 registry keys to see if Sah Agent had replaced any fingerprints of the Sah agent software, if not? Then go into 98/ME/XP/ users --c:\windows\system\system32 | NT Users C:\winnt\system32 and locate sah agent files, and just delete them, don't worry about having to uninstall. since the registry has been fixed.
If you're not 100% Satisfied and or are unsure if sah agent is completely uninstalled on your system? Do spyware scans - a good anti-spyware application that detects Sah agent, is Spybot Search and Destroy. SBS&D Will give you other registry keys that it maybe affecting even though the priority keys for Sah Agent to function completely have been fixed. I hope this helps you.

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on August 29th, 2005 10:29:09 PM hi
I managed to take away SAH Agent (files®istry) in a Win-XP computer. Then TCP/IP stopped working, and I managed to restore winsock registry keys from the same computer (instuctions in other posts make use of registry keys from another computer)... not needed to import/export from another computer via diskette.
I write instructions in next posts so they're easily readable.

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on August 29th, 2005 11:10:57 PM to take SAH away in my WinXP:
- I followed instructions from Symantec about removing SAH Agent...
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.sahagent.html
in fact it gave me the guidelines as I found more SAH files elsewhere afterwards. Very important to disable System Restore.
- I opened registry editor and deleted every ocurrence of "SAH" (the string to search)... naturally you can take care of what is going to be deleted.
- As SAH is for ShopAtHome, I looked for the string "shopat" in the registry and deleted all keys as well (do not search only "shop" if you have Photoshop :-))
- I opened a command window and went to C:\ directory
- enter the command: dir *SAH*.* /s
this will give you the files in all your directory tree. For me, it gave me 3-4 different folders with files related to SAH.
- one particular folder is: "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files"
I moved to that directory in the command window ('cd' command) and I saw a lot of hidden stuff there ('dir /a' command). One particular file in this folder was "setup.inf", a typical installation info file. If you see the content you'll notice the files of SAH Agent:
[Add.Code] lsp_.dll=lsp_.dll sporder_.dll=sporder_.dll xmlparse_.dll=xmlparse_.dll xmltok_.dll=xmltok_.dll SAHAgent_.exe=SAHAgent_.exe SAHDownloader_.exe=SAHDownloader_.exe SAHUninstall_.exe=SAHUninstall_.exe WEBInstaller.dll=WEBInstaller.dll msvcrt.dll=msvcrt.dllmfc42.dll=mfc42.dllolepro32.dll=olepro32.dll
- I deleted all files in this directory named into setup.inf file (just in case, I looked for these files in the entire C disk... i.e. 'dir c:\webinstaller.* /s /a'). I preferred not to delete the other files (msvcrt.dll, mfc42.dll, olepro32.dll) as they looked as too important for windows... nobody knows..
- After all this, SAH Agent was gone (at least a full Norton-AV2005 scan gives no results) BUT my internet connection was all gone. Keep reading next post...
grrrrrrrrr!!!!

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on August 29th, 2005 11:19:41 PM by the way, in the file noted below you can find where the SAH Agent was downloaded from... for me:
...
[mfc42installer]
file-win32-x86=http://199.221.131.134/agent/mfc42.cab
run=%EXTRACT_DIR%\mfc42.exe; end of INF file

Re: SAH Agent is installed! Help! by Anonymous Ghost on August 29th, 2005 11:53:35 PM hi again,
this is the final part of the mini-manual.
I had NO other computer to import/export registry keys to repair TCP/IP in my winXP after removing SAH Agent:
IMPORTANT: if you can manage to import/export registry keys as noted in other posts below (also in micro$oft website), I'd suggest to follow them... in fact they were my guidelines.
- I opened registry editor
- I went to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
key and I noticed there were also:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\Winsock
the same for winsock2 so I guessed they where from another window$ state of art :-P
- I exported the keys winsock and winsock2 for all control-set (1,2,3 and current), so I had 6 reg files.
- I compared the files between all control-sets (do not compare winsock keys with winsock2 keys as it makes no sense), and I noticed:
*) '2','3' and 'current' had the same subkeys/values
*) control-set '1' was different to the others
NOTE: to compare them use a text editor!!!
- I guessed '1' was correct and the others incorrect, so
1) I exported HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Winsock and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Winsock2
2) With notepad (I use TextPad, by the way, nothing compared to dino'tepad) replace the string "ControlSet001" for "CurrentControlSet" in both files.
3) save the files
4) import the registry files you just changed.
5) personally, I made a backup of all registry keys involved (just in case) and replace/save/import files to have control-sets '1', '2', '3' and 'current' the same and equal to '1' before the action. Take care to export/replace/import the keys with both Winsock and Winsock2!!
- I rebooted & voilą... back into the internet.
NOTES: take care of the operations with registry... so do not smoke too much 8-P
Hope this info helps anyone.
