Windows Task ManagerConfiguration:
Hey, I've got some problems with my task manager. The problem is that when I open it, all I get is the open programs, and thats it, no menu, no anything but the open program list, and the "End Task" "Switch To", and "New Task" buttons. Everything else is gone. How do I fix it? Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP/2000/NT

Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on March 10th, 2004 08:29:13 AM
User is unable to view Task Manager window. Either right clicking on the task bar to open or using Ctrl+Alt+Del does not open TM. It will display greyed out button on Task bar that does nothing. A small icon will display in system tray, bottom right corner. Any suggestions

Saved my day, I thought I got a zombie computer with a fake Task Manager. Not mentionned in the Help file and no visible switch. That's not unexpected but in compact view more than one task manager can be started (W2K), this made it look substandard to the OS.

Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on August 09th, 2004 06:30:00 PM
Task Manager shows that Task Manager is continually using much more CPU than what I think it should. It is almost always over 10% of the CPU, sometimes jumps to over 20%, and on occasion will hit over 30%. Any ideas what would cause such large CPU load by TM?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on November 16th, 2004 11:35:31 PM
OK it seems like this question hasn't been answered yet... I press ctrl+alt+delete and task manager doesn't open at all.. all I see is the little green (task manager) icon in my system tray.. Pressing ctrl+alt+delete again only opens another icon in my sytem tray. Very wierd I've never seen this before.

Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on December 04th, 2004 04:42:06 PM
hello, I had the same problem. Regedit, task manager and MSConfig would only open for a split second and close. I ran Spybot S&D Several times and each time it picked up something like Kazaa.Spybot13 in the registry. I ran it 5 times in a row and each time removed it. Now everything seems to be back to normal. Hope that helps.

Re: Regedit and Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on December 23rd, 2004 08:27:35 PM
I was able to locate the problem many of us have with regedit and taskmgr disappearing. Migetno1 said to locate the taskmgr file in sys32, move it and rename it. Open it and find processes that don't look right. Well, I located two that cause this problem. End processes for PCHButton.exe and MSNGuyen.exe. You will then find regedit and taskmgr stay open. However, they will start again when you reboot so just search your hard drive for the files PCHButton.exe and MSNGuyen.exe, delete them all and it will fix the problem.
Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on December 31st, 2004 07:32:50 PM
My task manager shows just the system idle processes and no other tasks. I have not figured oout how to fix the problem, but it was caused by Family KeyLogger application by Spyarsenal. I have emailed them but they do not respond.
Re: Windows Task Manager by Anonymous Ghost on January 21st, 2005 04:43:14 AM
After logging into xp and trying to start a program sometimes task manager tells me that i have no user name ! In these circumstances i can't start any programes (task manager reports program not responding)! If i restart and the user name comes up in the task manager then the programs start ok ! Why am i not logging in properley in the first place ?
