| [SOLVED] LSASS.EXE ERROR - Workstation won't boot | Configuration: |
I am using a co-workers workstation, because mine will not boot.
I ran spybot (in an effort to dump commonname) and the program asked me to re-boot.
When I did that, I got a LSASS error; (prior to the logon screen)
"The instruction at 0X77F82D8F referenced memory at 0X00000004.
The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program.
So I click OK
Then I get a WINNT\AUTHORITY error
the process C:WINNT\SYSTEM32\LSASS.EXE with status code -1073741819
and a 60 second countdown to shutdown.
So I cannot even log in.
system specifics;
Dell computer, Win2000, connected to a Win2000 network.
P.S. I do not have administrative password.
Please help

Re: [SOLVED] LSASS.EXE ERROR - Workstation won't boot by christopher on November 14th, 2004 07:01:21 PM The solution is to get an administrator to install and run the Sasser removal tool from the system (it's an infection by the Sasser worm that's causing the problem). You then need to install a firewall to avoid getting probed by these worms (on average an unpatched PC is infected every 13 seconds by one of these worms, and I can attest to that from personal experience). After doing that, Windows needs to be patched via Windows Update.
PS edpring - nice one for posting on my birthday. :D |
