I'give up on googling for the answer. Sony just don't make it easy to find the owner's manual. The nearest I can get is to find out the motherboard does have an AGP slot but there was no listing to say whether it was 2X 4X or higher. If you have an owner's manual it should give more detail on AGP slot specification. I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

The GDDR3 memory is used by the graphics card, not your system... your computer 'supporting it' isn't really an issue.

It's 4x. I use an ATI 9600pro in mine, 8x, same MB as the OP. The 8x works fine in the AGP slot, running at 4x
