CHALLENGE! No safemode or XP and setup repeatedly restarts!Configuration:
This is probably the worst problem I've ever had. I have always fixed my own problems, but this one is out of my league.

I got a virus and used Kasperesky to neutralize it. However, before I knew it, my computer was totally messed up, so I decided to re-install XP and wipe my hardrive which I've done several times with no problems.

However, this time I'm having serious issues:

1.) I cannot get into safemode. I get an error screen that says the computer will now restart.

2.) Re-installation of XP only goes to a point. Then it asks for the location of a driver containing an INTEL PRO / 1000 Driver. I believe this is the driver that came with my Gigabyte 8knxp motherboard, but then it powers down and restarts.

3.) When I try to get into XP normally, the XP re-installation setup automatically comes on and repeats the process in #2 above. It's just a vicious cycle I can't get out of.

I really need someones help. I begin a new job on Monday and I need to use my computer. Thank very much in advance

UPDATE: Now that it has taken the INTEL PRO 1000 DRIVER, it always powers down and restarts at the same point (the 34 min mark). It will not complete the XP re-installation.

use a boot floppy/disc to boot and then format. u can get the boot disk from bootdisk.com for free.
