Windows XPConfiguration:
My whole system is running very slow, this is a new computer(AMD Athlon 2500+ 1.83GHZ, 1GB ram). All the programs are running slow when I open them. What use to take 1 or 2 seconds now takes 10 or 15 seconds. Some programs I have to click twice even. I think it might have something to do with Norton Internet Security 2005(purchased legal copy). My problem stemed from when I had my two computer networked (other computer a Win 98, P2, 300mhz, 64MB ram), and working properly through a router. I wanted to file and print share so I did all the necessary steps to get them communicating and it worked for about 20 minutes until I tried printing. The first time I printed and all was ok, but the second time the printer never printed and the Windows xp computer started running slow. Also I noticed that on the router, the LED\\\\\\\'s that are flashing for the lan port of the Win XP computer never shuts off(it used to), even when the computer is off. That LED is always on, maybe something happened to the network card in the Win xp computer?

Please help
Thanks
Ron

I now know what the problem is, I just need help to fix it. It's the spoolsv.exe that is taking up 99% of my cpu. How do I get rid of this problem.

Geez, it's amazing what info you can find on the web. Well I found out what the problem was, so I figure I'd share it with the rest of you in case you guys run into this problem. The problem was when I tried networking my two computers, then I tried to file and print shared the two computers. Well when I tried printing from the computer without the printer to the computer with the printer, the file got stuck in my printer spool system(spoolsv.exe). I never received any messages from either computer telling me that the printer was trying to print that lost file, that's what was so confusing. But when I looked at my task manager, there it was, spoolsv.exe, using 99% of my cpu. So to cut this already long explanation short, I just deleted the file from the printer folder in the windows/system32/i386/printers folders, then voila, she let go and all was back to normal.

PS: All you have to do is read the info put out there by the experts!

Ron
