XP Home automatically quittingConfiguration:
I have a Dell Dimension 4550 running Win XP Home [SP1] that developed a problem yesterday. It starts-up, displays the desktop background but then automatically says \\\"saving settings\\\" and prompts for restart or shutdown. Booting in safe mode also does this. What should i do? Operating System : XP Home XP pro
CPU/Processor : Pentium 4

does it loop? basically if you turn it on it will continually restart? until you overide it by holding down the power key?

I've got this prob too. Tried reinstalling XP but the setup program persistently hangs :-( I think its got something to so with spyware removing programmes (eg AdAware, Spybot etc.) Spyware sucks but these "programs" suck more. I recommend you wipe your HDD and start from scratch.
