| Internet hangs after a while | Configuration: |
I have an external Aztech DSL 500U Modem and run on 512 broadband. Everytime i start up the computer, the internet works well and everything runs fine...but after a while (can be from 30 mins to 3 hours plus), the internet suddenly hangs. i can\'t even open the \'dial up connection\' box or disconnect from the Internet. I cannot run Internet Explorer or Mozilla browsers (they don\'t load) and other programs can\'t load too. I run a modem test and it says : \"Rasdial failed with error 651. the modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error\" it says the network test has failed.
Please help me out here...it irks me as i can\'t download stuff properly...it will keep getting cut off and i have to restart the computer and load eveything again. Moreover, i can\'t shut down normally once the internet hangs, i have to push the reset button.

download and run an anti-virus like norton and an anti-spyware program like spybot, ad-aware
additionaly run Hijack-This and post its log over here. |

Windows XP, 2000, 98: Open the Control Panel and double click Internet Options. Click the Connections tab, highlight your Expedient connection and click the Settings button. Click the Advanced button in the Dialup Settings section. You have the option " Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed ". try checking or unchecking this might work out...... just a suggestion....... |

hi I have the same problem too! flying_geo, have you found a solution? I'd love to know how to fix this issue. it's extremely annoying, innit? :) |

hi
i am from bangalore india...even i have the same problem since a week. got my new pc a week ago...amd 64 2800, asus k8n and 512mb ram...and connected through a external adsl modem...pc hangs after 3 or 4 hours of internet

I have the same problem, except that it usually happens while downloading torrent files. Although (if u r using xp sp2)some of you should try checking your system event viewer in the controlpanel/administrative tools, and if you see a warning related with tcp/ip connections, then go to http:\\www.lvllord.de and download the fix, it might help some of you out, Im still looking for a solution because this problem is driving me nuts, have to restart the darn modem to get the net working again. |

i also using external Aztech DSL 500U Modem running 1500k!! i have the same problem as u!! Windows XP too!~ |

My computer hangs when connected to Internet.win98 is installed. I have also changed modem but the problem still persists. Please help me.
