| on boot: constant beep, flashing b/w screen | Configuration: |
On pc start, I\'ll get a constant beep (from attached speakers) and the monitor is gray/b/w with a dos cursor at top left with a flashing screen with vertical lines/columns across it.
Additional Comments: I have to turn off the rear main power switch (not just the power switch in front (on top, actually))and then it usually boots up just fine. (Is there an error message log on my pc somehwere to explain what it is doing/has done?) What is causing this? Thanks.

in any case, open ur system and see it the ram is fit properly though this shouldnt be causing the problem.
also you can reset settings in the BIOS to defaults.
let me know whether this helps or not, i will look further into the problem meanwhile. |

Re: on boot: constant beep, flashing b/w screen by arm on April 23rd, 2004 03:35:24 PM Since 1st post, and B4 any recurrence, I set my CMOSBios to "load optimized defaults". Not until I wiggled RAM and rebooted did same problem occur, with color this time. So I moved Ram to 1 & 2 slots instead of 2&3 (giving CPU more air) but then system would not boot up completely- made it all the way to my background screen color.
So, back to 2 & 3 slots it is and I hope I don't have to return the motherboard again (The 1st time was for bad cnxn in onboard sound outlet). |
