Bypass Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Upgrade eligibilityConfiguration:
In the past I bought Windows 2000 Pro Upgrade, it threatened to search hard drive for eligibility. I installed that thing on empty hard drive with no problems.

I recently bought Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Upgrade on eBay. Package is brand new and says INCLUDES Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, and of course Updrade! inside a red double hexagone.

How can I bypass that pesky eligibility search? It says it wants either find previous OS on hard drive, OR it wants an installation CD of previous OS inserted. Previous OS being NT 3.1, 3.5, 3.51...

I do have the original Windows NT 4.0 Workstation CD, non-upgrade. But it is scratched on face surface, and some files could not be read, and installation is not possible.

Please help. I also have installation floppies to play with, that came with upgrade version.

It be nice if I could create a CD, that could fake NT 3.51.. I think all I need is label name of NT 3.51, and there should be a file in root dir, kind of ID, on NT 4.0 it is CDROM_W.40 ... If you know this won't work, or know some other way, please tell me.

Thanx in advance,

Alex

I am really not sure if there is any way to achieve this and whether it is legal or not.
