See if a disc is in the floopy....that will give you this indication - otherwise you need to get into setup and look at your disk boot configuration fdr

I agree .. That sounds like the first boot is on the cd rom drive .. make sure the first boot is your hardrive or reset your bios defaults .

for the past couple of days, i've observed that everytime i turn on my PC, i hear an unusual sound... what do you reckon is wrong with my PC? please advise... thank you very much...

is the sound too loud and persists. or just small sound?
could be sound of hard disks rotating etc. in that case it should not be a worry.
Re: booting up problem by Anonymous Ghost on March 17th, 2004 10:40:17 PM
thank you scorpio but the sound is not normal like before.. it's like the sound of a chainsaw ...what about it? ty.
Re: booting up problem by scorpio on March 18th, 2004 06:27:04 AM
shake the system once, but not too much.
if it doesn't go.
open the system and see where the sound is coming from.
could be that the ventilating fan in the SMPS is toucking its rim and hence making the sound.

The computer I am working on has been unplugged for about 6 months. I cannot acces the bios, there is no disk in A: drive and the screen remains blank. The screen accually flashes as if the was no computer attached to it.
Re: booting up problem by scorpio on March 27th, 2004 07:13:37 AM
check if all cables are plugged in properly.

if that doesnt help then get a new battery (its round in shape as in watches, just that its bigger) for your bios. that should fix it.

So i select the configuration and then the it looks as if its about to bout when it goes into the screen with windows 98. But then it goes back to the configuration screen, and when its supposed to continue to load it stops and under the configuration setting thing. It says "ESS PCI audio DOS Device Driver, Version 2.10J (c) ESS technology, inc, 1994-1998. All rights reserved Maestro-2E

I was wondering if anyone could help me, my sister has a Pionex and when it first started up it would say bad sectors, and wouldn't restart to windows 98. I tried to recover from a floppy and format but it tells me format terminated. How can recover or set it back to the right settings to least get it to load. Thank you Belinda

When I try to start my computer, the fans start, then the small fan attatched to the processor seems to lose some of it's power, then it shuts off. This usually takes about 5 seconds or less, then nothing. I hooked the small fan to another computer, and it seemed to work fine. Any ideas?
