Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on November 22nd, 2003 11:59:22 PM Just go to http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/ms03-026.asp and read the information there. You will have it fixed with that, I am sure |
Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on November 23rd, 2003 12:05:26 AM SVCHOST.exe generates errors and closes as soon as i connect to internet. And then it consumes the entire memory. Not able to open other programs ... Im using win2000 prof. How to fix this problem??? |
Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on December 02nd, 2003 04:28:10 PM Ive tried to get updates as suggested above but the process cocks up while you try and download the updates because svchost.exe generates its errors! Any other ideas? Is this problem virus related?

Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on December 06th, 2003 01:25:30 PM Hi everyone suffers from svchost.exe,
Here is the solution,
1. download FixSBigF at symantec's web site
2. download patch for worm viruses at microsoft web site below;
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms03-026.asp
3. restart windows in SAFE mode (by pressing F8, when you see "windows is starting..." on the black screen, as windows is starting)
4. run FixSBigF application for cleaning the worm viruses such as msblast, mslaugh or teekids
5. run the patch which you've already downloaded from microsoft's web site.
6. congratulations, now you are free of svchost errors. |
Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on January 02nd, 2004 07:48:06 AM Svchost error may occur even on fresh installations of Windows 2000 SP3 without any virus (maybe it has to do with some network frustration of windows, I do not really know).
After I installed Microsoft Security Update
Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe
it never happened again :-))
To install this on your computer, go to www.microsoft.com and enter
Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe
in the search window. The download page will be shown.

Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on February 13th, 2004 07:40:38 AM Hi,
Did anybody solve this lousy problem?
I am 100% sure that I do not have a virus, but everytime I log on to the web I get this crap and restart the computer.
DO I have to throw out WIN2000 and go back to WIN95?
Kind regards,
G |
Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on February 25th, 2004 04:08:09 PM I understand that "svchost.exe error" can be generated virus / worm or a hacker trying to make use of security holes in Windows.
To fix the problem, install Patch KB823980 from Microsoft (may require installing SP4 first). While you're at it, you should also install KB828028.

Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on June 13th, 2004 06:30:36 AM Hi. Ive also been facing problems with svchost.exe (NETWORK SERVICE). Ive tried installing FixSBigF and the patch ms03-026. I restarted my pc on safe mode. There was absolutely no change at all. No worms or viruses found. The only thing i do to get rid of it is to open the task manager as soon as i started windows and end the svchost.exe(NETWORK SERVICE)process which usually takes up 99% of my cpu usage. It doesnt come back until i restart windows again...
Thats the only way to stop it temporarily, i guess.

Re: svchost.exe error :( by whu on September 08th, 2004 05:57:36 PM Hi, Today, I got the same problem as what you guys said. I then searched several forums. I found several solutions that worth a try.
Here is my solution to this question, which I find it in some other forums. The expert there said that this "svchost.exe eating the moon" question, when
accompanied with "LSA encountered a problem",
is due to the corruption of the so-called WinSock stack. I also figure out that my computer has a service called "NwSapAgent" running which is not used in other computers.
So I did the following two things which solve my problem immidiately. Unfortunately, I am not sure which one is the right shot.
1. Remove "NwSapAgent" from the Registry key. Remove the entries of "NwSapAgent" from any of the following paths
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET002
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET
2. Downlaod the software
WinSockFix.exe
Run it and restart.
Hope this helps. |

Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on December 01st, 2004 05:37:18 PM somthing else to consider is an issue with some hp photosmart printers. after the install you get the same errors appearing as though it is the blaster worm. but it is not. basically all you need to do is disable the WIA process. go to the start menu and type in "msconfig" then go to the services tab then sort by service. there will be one near the bottom called "Windows Image Acquisition WIA" this solved my problem. i have no idea how much effect it will have on the printer though. |

Re: svchost.exe error :( by Anonymous Ghost on March 04th, 2005 04:09:37 PM I had the same problem... Turned out that it all was from a new HP All in one Printer model 2610. If the printer was powered off the computer speed and number of SVChost.exe errors went crazy.
found out by turning it on that the Speed increase and only got occasional SVChost.exe errors. I went to HP's Web site got on chat with Tech support. He knew exactly what was causing the problem and had me turn off a service and there was also a critical update to download and install and I have not had a problem since. So if you have just installed a new HP Printer good chance that is the cause of all your problems. |
