Notebook screen flashes & beeps upon 'time out'Configuration:
Hi,

Since last month, each time my notebook goes to standby or screensaver mode, it begins to flash and bleep rapidly (About 2times per sec.) when i touch a key or move mouse it stops, i have removed the screen saver time out and hard drive sleep time settings but made no difference.

I installed some extra memory about 2 months ago which seemed to install fine with no problems and it registering in the logs. Apart from this, i have made no changes - I was advised to install anti virus etc, which i done using Norton internet security but this has made no change.

It does not appear to have done any damage to my notebook and apart from this annoying noise and flashes, everytime i stop to do something else, all runs smoothly. I have further been dvised that it cant be a virus but probably a key is sticking! I have cleaned keyboard with toothcomb and if this was the case, surely would not wait until system times out, I dont understand even though have removed screensaver settings, why the computer appears to go to sleep after 3 minutes approx. with a flashing and bleeping type of greeting!
