windows won't startConfiguration:
when pc is turned on an exception error message comes up and the computer gets stuck and won't start

Additional Comments:
exception error 0E from 0028:C0004CEB9 in VxD VFAT (01) + 0000B8ED called from 0028:CI82D0C0 in VxD vortrack (04)
Operating System : MS Windows 98
RAM : Actual:128 MB

try starting it in safe mode, and run scan disk.
if that fails, try starting using a boot disk and run scan disk.
if that fails, re-install windows over the existing installation (no need to fomrat the pc)

windows will not start
will not let you start in safe mode

needs startup disc
select r to repair

What is the step by step procedure to use to start windows or find problems

I try to start up windows with start up disk and it sais is bad file or bad command how can you help me????????????

Please check this uot
1. In Bios set it to Optimized Setting
2. pull out Other Pci Pheripherals like modem, tv tuner cards and etc, even they can create problem.
3. If you are having more than 1 dimm(Ram)then cross examine them. or put it in another slot.
4. You did'nt specify Os so if it si Xp
Boot from Xp Cd and go for the setup
