im not able to install oracle 8i in my machine. pls help........
| Operating System : Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
CPU/Processor : celeron
RAM : 256
Motherboard : Mercury
Hard Disk : , Space: 80 GB
Monitor : LG

my oracle 9i database is working fine but when i connect to databade in forms it given an arror of TNS.
ANY ONE CAN HELP ME IN THIS MATTER.

I am haveing problems installing Oracle 8i release 3(8.17) on Windows 2000 professional.I was told there is a DLL problem with this that will not let it install.Is it possible to get help with this DLL.Thanks very much |

Hi,
I installed orcale 8i succecssfully on win NT prof, after the installation I checked logging SQL*Plus using the used id(scott),pwd(tiger) and hostname(SID), this was done successfully. When I reboot my machine, I tried to login SQL*plus, but I am getting the error ORA-01034:ORACLE not available.
I checked for the services on my machine.
There are three services that need to be started.
1.oracle orahome81 TNSListener- Started successfully
2.Oracleservice(SID)- Status is starting, not turning to started even after 30 mins
3.oraclewebassistant0- Started successfully
Please help me
