Oracle 8i Server on Linux / Windows XP clientConfiguration:
I have installed the windows xp client and I continue to get a listener error. I have noticed in some documentations that the OracleListen service needs to be running, however the service is not getting installed. I have tried running some of the suggested commands to install the service but the command doesn't exist and when I run the Net Config I don't have an option to configure the listener service.

The Oracle 8i database is on a Linux server on port 4785, the client computer is Windows XP SP2.

Additional Comments:
I am trying to get ODBC connection to the database
