| oracle 8i installation problem | Configuration: |
I have a AMD Athlon 1800+ processor with 512 SDRAM and XP Professional as o/s I tried installing many times Oracle 8i but without any success. Everytime at different stages if installation the installation hangs . When i checked at Windows Task Manager always shows jrew.exe using 98 - 99 % of CPU. and the sys then hangs
Pl help

1)Iam having a problem installing oracl 8i in windows XP professional with system configuration- P4 1.6ghz, 256 MB ram, 40GB hard disk space.
2)With the above O/S and Configuration Oracle 8.0.3 is showing error message, i.e strdb8.0 and giving a number 0x000...

when i enter user name and password as scott and tiger respectively then i press enter after then i got message i.e ERROR TNS PROTOCOL.plz help me my exam come very soon. THANKS.... |

i tried to install oracle 8i server release 8.1.5 on windows xp pro with P4 1.80GHz, 60gb HDD, 256mb RAM, with no problem. after giving scott/tiger i got sql prompt also. but problem is that after restarting it doesn't work, giving error message 'oracle not problem'. can u siolve the problem? also i want to know whether oracle 8i personal edition (8.1.5) and oracle 8i server release 8.1.7 could be installed on windows xp pro.

installed oracle8i.1.5.0 in pentium4
system. after installation i restarted
system login to oracle with useridand
password it should oracle not found.please help me how to slove the problem |

I am able to install oracle 8i on windows 2000 with celeron,455MHz, 40GB HDD, 256mb RAM, with no problem. After entering the login id & password, it responds with error message 'listener name not found' even after giving the listener name. Please help me to overcome this problem and give your feedback to cgikram1@yahoo.co.uk

Hi,
I installed orcale 8i succecssfully on win NT prof, after the installation I checked logging SQL*Plus using the used id(scott),pwd(tiger) and hostname(SID), this was done successfully. When I reboot my machine, I tried to login SQL*plus, but I am getting the error ORA-01034:ORACLE not available.
I checked for the services on my machine.
There are three services that need to be started.
1.oracle orahome81 TNSListener- Started successfully
2.Oracleservice(SID)- Status is starting, not turning to started even after 30 mins
3.oraclewebassistant0- Started successfully
