unable to install oracle on winXP SP2Configuration:
When I try to install Oracle on my pc (the operating system is win XP SP2), the installation doesn\'t run. Can it depends by the fact that very recently I\'ve installed the ervice pack 2? Operating System : win xp suse 9
CPU/Processor : AMD Athlon XP 1800m
RAM : 512
Hard Disk : IBM 60 GB
Partition Details : 1) win xp SP2 2) suse 9

yes, that seems to be a potential problem. lot of programs dnt work with sp2. uninstall sp2. and install oracle.

please tell the oracle version that runs on windows xp professional service pack 2.i tried oracle 8,oracle 8i and oracle 9i biut none of them are getting installed.oracle 8i worked for the first time when i restarted the system it was giving msgs like oracle not found.please help

I installed with no problem... winxp sp2
Copy oracle to disk and change "symcjit.dll" to "symcjit.old" (located in the following directory of your install "..\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin"

It seems to work just fine for me... Good Luck
