System won't boot after installing new HD, will rebootConfiguration:
I recently installed a new SATA hard disk (Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB) to my system (XP Pro SP2) and now it won't boot. The boot sequence stops after the memory check. The motherboard (Intel D925XCV)has 4 SATA channels which have the following drives attatched:
two WD 74GB Raptor SATA hard disks in a RAID;
Plextor 712SA DVD writer.

If I reboot the system with the reset button the computer boots up without any problems.

I've already updated the BIOS to the latest version.

Any ideas?

well it seems to be taking time to detect your hardware. make sure your CMOS battery doesn't need a change, or else leave the computer for sometime like 5minutes or so, it should boot up fine.

another option is to go into bios settings and check if smart mode is enabled or not.

OK, I changed the battery and that had no effect. Also leaving the system for some time has no effect. It just waits at the same point.
