| Cannot read DVD's | Configuration: |
|
I have a Sony PCV-RX202 with a DVD Rom and a CD RW drive. I replaced the CD RW drive with a DVD RW drive but when I try to read a DVD it doesn't recognise it as a DVD. Both drives will play an audio CD. I have tried the DVD drive as master and as slave but I still cannot read a DVD. I have treid going back to the original config of DVD Rom and CD RW drive and now even the DVD rom cannot read DVD's. I tried re-setting the BIOS but that doesn't help. It seems as though the system is seeing the DVD drives as CD drives. Another strange fault is that I cannot restore my system under Windows Xp because there are no restore points (there was previously). Anyone know what I have done wrong please?

Boot the system.
See if all is fine.
Now shutdown the system and connect any one drive.

Re: Cannot read DVD's by Anonymous Ghost on August 19th, 2004 02:31:59 AM Windows 2004 SP4 or later, and Windows XP won't read DVD discs with certain DVD drives. My old DVD-ROM doesn't read any DVD disc under Win XP SP1/SP2 and Win2000 SP4. I later tried WIN2K SP1, and it worked perfectly fine. |
