| sudden "loss" of modem | Configuration: |
has been working fine, all of a sudden the dialup can\'t detect a modem. nothings been replaced, although some tinkering was done to the \"how its connecting to the ISP\" although I dont know what it was (sorry) How can I troubleshoot this? It was sugested lightening zapped it...?

try connecting ur modem to another pc and see if it works there. if yes, then you only need to re-install the driver and configure the modem again with the settings given by your isp. |

we have two puters, for clarification, the 'sick' puter is puter1 (98 sec.ed) and mine is puter2 (98 & lindows)
on puter1, we did take the modem out of puter2 and try it in puter1, it claimed to have installed successfully, but still no dectection of the modem....? I will try your suggestion and let you know how it went. Thanks |

ok, that didn't work, so the modem is considered bad now, right? We have a different modem in puter1 that has never been in it before, the add new hardware program can't see it...? I can't locate the disk for it so Im going to try to locate & download the driver for it.

I highly doubt there was a download issue, considering we haven't downloaded anything for some time now and like I posted, the puter1 has been working fine, Im buying a new modem today so will post results when we know. |

new modem in, works great, although its noisey as all get out! anyway to get rid of the dial up nonsense?
