my CD-RW/DVD combo driveConfiguration:
my Philips CD-RW/DVD combo drive stoped reading DVDs, any hlpe on finding a new driver or something mayhelp Operating System : Windows XP SP 1
CPU/Processor : AMD Anthalon 2500+ XP 1900 MHz
RAM : Kingston HyperX Actual:512 MB Max:3000 MB
Motherboard : Abit NF7-S 333MHz
Video Card : ATI Radeon 9600
Video RAM : 256 MB
CD Drive : Philips DVD/RW2000 40 X

It must be becasue of dust etc. Use a drive lens cleaner. that should do it.
u can easily get the cd drive lens cleaner for a couple bucks in the market.

already tried one, it didn't help, ilet it run for a few hours, and made no differnce

you shouldnt let it run for hours. that can damage the lens.
a couple minutes (2-5) are more than enough.
i will suggest you take your drive to a drive mechanic. its possible that the lens is now damaged after that overrun of the lens cleaner.

nope, it isn't, i tried iot for a few mins first, didn't help, trust me, i don't care that much to spend probly $100 to go to a drive tech, wheni can buy a nice new DVD bvurner fior $60

A passing thought. Try to plugin the drive in your friends' PC and see if it works there.
If it does, it could be some cable problem in the drive.
And yeah, normally it is cheaper to buy a new drive than going to a mechanic.

no, it stoped working in my last computer, but didn;t have $$ to buy new CD burner so i let it slid and baugth a new 52x CD-Rom, but, yea, it own;t work anywhere, i mean, it works fine for anytrhing evept reading DVDs

JUST TW DAYS AGO , I WAS WRITING SOME FILES TO A CD WHEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PROCESS THE BUFFER LEVEL WENT DOWN TO ZERO SUCH THAT THE NERO SOFTWARE GAVE A WRITE ERROR AND FROM THEN ONWARDS IA HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WRITE ANY CD.PLS HELP ME OUT; MY EMAIL ID IS: a.saxena@iitg.ernet.in
