I periodically have an exasperating problem where the right side of my keyboard stops functioning as it should - instead of getting i, o, p, j, k, l, etc., I get numbers. My husband noticed it looked like the keys roughly turned into a 10-key function. (I\\\'m not sure if it\\\'s related, but my space bar also doesn\\\'t seem to be working as easily as it normally would.) I don\\\'t know what triggers this problem, nor do I know how to turn it off other than to system restore to an earlier point. Is this the effect of a virus, an operating system problem, a hardware problem (I don\\\'t think so since system restore fixes it), or an accidental activation of a legitimate option on my computer? How can I permanently fix this instead of always having to system restore? Any help would be very appreciated.
Additional Comments: I am running Windows XP Home SP2, on a Sony Vaio PCG R505EL laptop. I have a dsl internet connection thru verizon that is routed through a linksys wireless router. I am running McAfee virusscan and firewall, plus spy sweeper.
