DOS in XP home versionConfiguration:
I have a locally built 10 year old system with 98. The mother board is going out. This machine is our workhorse for billing and word processing. The billing system is DOS based and the co. does not & and will not have a windows version. I want to keep the DOS program.I've asked for options and am more confused than ever.
Some say DOS will work with XP others say no.
I've asked about having a system locally built but was told it would be hard to find a moterboard for 98.
I've asked about buying a system off the shelf and wiping the HD and installing 98 but was told the motherboard would't recognize 98.
Bottom line-What are my options?
Thank you very much.
Operating System : Microsoft Windows 98

Go to Start > Run.
Type 'Cmd' without quotes and press Enter Key.
If you run your program, it should run from there without any problem.

Press Alt-Enter to switch to full screen mode/ back to windowed mode.
(Keep 'Alt' key pressed and press 'Enter' key and then release both keys)
