create a startup disk at your friends computer by downloading the appropriate one for you from the above link.
use that startup disk to boot your computer and format it :) |

Please can someone assist, i'm a complete spanner when it comes to computers, we have a hate-hate relationship. Anyhoo, my other half has cleverly missplaced the startup disc and i can't get past the big black screen with loads of white numbers to enable me to do bugger all. Please can someone help in pointing me in the right direction of acquiring a new disc so that i can inflict more pain and suffering onto the computer. Oh, can i also ask that any info be in written in English so that i can undertstand them as i'm not the sharpest tool in the box. Thanks |

Thanks for your response however i've got a new problem now. We've found our orginal start up disc but every single time we try to load it in every type of mode (safe mode included) it comes up with the same message that "whilst installising VKD:" and then the screen just freezes and does bugger all. is there a problem with the hard drive?? |

try creating a new bootable disk and use it to boot. that will eliminate whether the problem is in the pc or bootable disk.

I noticed that "Scorpio" had posted that in order to add a printer we needed the set up disk and not the start up disks. Where can I get the set up disk? I too have a printer I want to add, but do not have the win98se disk it asks for. |

now i have no sound? it says that Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly. what do i do? |

I did a formatt and install and now when I try to start up windows I get a window that says 2 files are missing C:\windows\s3.vxd and C:\windows\system-s3.vxd and I get a screen that askes dor C:\windows\system\percopy I can safe boot though.Help please |
