Re: Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on June 30th, 2004 07:35:01 PM I just go the same error. It asks to click OK to terminate or CANCEL to debug...I didn't click either of those and now I can access my computer, but the error message is still up.
Let me know if you find anything to fix this blasted thing!
Good luck.

Re: Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on August 03rd, 2004 04:34:30 PM Same problem here; my machine runs fine but the error is still in the corner - instruction 'xxxxxx' referenced memory...
the Net has answers on this subject but they all say it's a Netsky infection. I've run Adaware, Spybot, and Symantec's FxNetsky remover but still it happens. Doesn't happen in safe mode, by the way. Please post a solution; looks like Experts-Exchange has one but they charge for it. Thanks! |

Re: Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on October 08th, 2004 05:38:43 PM I pretty much had the same thing all day, and just got it resolved. It seems my installation of spyboy caused the error....Removing spybot stabalized the my system again...Hope this helps..

Re: Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on March 11th, 2006 03:40:58 AM I just spent 3 days and nites battling this particular demon...still don't know exactly what caused it. Seems to have been some kind of conflict between my Wireless Network Card and Anti-Virus software with an outside possibility of help from my Defrag program...all just guesses...but I beat the sucker and this is what i did...
If you are on XP (as I am) you always have the last ditch option of reinstalling as an upgrade anyway...so go into your registry and dump everything containing the phrase "winlogon.exe"...a few things will require adjusting permissions which you can do as a right click > properies adjustment. Dump folders and everything. Also run a general file search and dump every winlogon.exe file you can including cache and prefetch files. I was prepared to do a DOS dump of the main winlogon.exe as well but I ran a virus scan on that file and it came up clean so I reasoned it might not actually have been the file so much as the registry. With all that purging of the regiostry i expected to have to reinstall but as a precaution I just rebooted (cold start)...
And it was gone...the lag...the errors...blue screen...all gone...just like nothing ever happened...system is running just fine and I have been abusing it hard for the last 10-12 hours...not a peep.
So I think this is some kind of corruption issue...I am still not exactly sure where it originates but the registry purge seems to fix its wagon...
good hunting...

"Winlogon.exe - Application Error" by Anonymous Ghost on April 02nd, 2006 07:40:34 AM The problem I’ve got here is that every time I attempt to log in, an error window appears:
SAS window – winlogon.exe – application error
The instruction at “0x……” reference memory at “0x……” could not be written
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
Regardless of which button I click on, the computer keeps rebooting again and again.
I’ve tried logging in through safe-mode, but with the same results.
I’ve also tried repair-installing windows XP, but I keep getting an error, something along the lines of:
There was an error in copying the file “rdpwd.sys”
After the installation, the winlogon.exe problem is still there
I’ve also tried using this hard drive as a slave drive on another computer, but the problem is all the information and data I need is under a password protected user, which means I cannot access it.
I’ve really run out of ideas of fixing this problem, and desperately need to get the information from this computer. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
solved Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on July 06th, 2006 09:50:16 AM It's simple, just download hijack.exe and killbox.exe. Run Hijack. Look for these types of process in the hijack log:
O20 - Winlogon Notify: arergiti - arergiti.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: bdicjulx - bdicjulx.dll (this is only an example, it will not be the same dll files in your case, just put the types of these trojans for your understanding) kill all these dll files comes under the heading "Winlong notify" using killbox (use the option 'delete on reboot')..and it is simple as that...nothing to worry. |
Re: Winlogon.exe - Application Error then Blue Screen by Anonymous Ghost on October 29th, 2006 01:34:14 AM Used Hijackthis.exe and found C:\windows\system32\wintht32.dll was causing this problem. Renamed it to winth32.txt and restarted the system. No isues. Then deleted this file. |
