hey every1 - i am running XP Pro SP2, and have had this configuration for more or less the last 3 months, but suddenly Internet Explorer started taking an extended period of time when i right-click on images or text to either copy or save. by extended, i mean about a second for the right-click menu to show up. the initial loading of my homepage is a bit slower now as well (Google), and although i dont believe i have made any changes to the system settings (aside from disabling the Indexing Service), it has been like this for about a day now & i havent had any luck finding the right fix. i have ran Ad-Aware & Spy Sweeper (both with the latest updates), HiJack This and CWShredder but have found NO apparent causes and NO adware, etc. except for 2 Google toolbar items while running HiJack This & i did remove those.
Additional Comments: i am running 2 Promise IDE Controller cards in the 1st & 2nd PCI slots, but as i stated, these were here & working properly prior to the whole deal going awry. right-clicking on items in Windows Explorer is NOT effected in this way - its still as snappy as ever... just in Internet Explorer (IE6). thanks a bunch, John
