DNS ERRORConfiguration:
I have IE 6.0 running with XP Pro on a Dell 8200 2.57 ghz with 1mb ram. Recently, my computer was infected with a virus which caused me to have to repair Windows and uninstall/reinstall video and sound drivers which seemed to fix most problems except for IE. Since the virus, IE won't connect to links within a website or to links to a website after a yahoo search or after typing in a URL unless I re-click on the link or "Go" button in IE multiple times. I would appreciate your advice.

Operating System : Windows XP Pro
CPU/Processor : Pentium 4

DNS Error is caused when DNS servers have not been setup properly.
Call the customer care of your ISP, they will give you their DNS servers and tell you how to make the changes.

Btw, your RAM will be 1GB not 1MB. systems with RAM 1mb existed around 10 years ago :)

Hello. I have a window that pops up saying I have an error with my browser just about everytime I start surfing the net. It does it with all programs that enter the net for any reason including WinAmp. Does anyone have an idea of this problem? Thank you for your time.

Hi lebron314,
Did you contact your ISP for the DNS settings? Are you sure the settings are correct?
Re: DNS ERROR by Anonymous Ghost on November 17th, 2004 05:51:23 AM
The problem is that the Internet disconnects randomly, and at times at constant intervals.

The typical error message is:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL\dnserror.html

I have a dial-up connection with a local ISP. The modem is HSP56 (internal) and the browser is IE 5.0. The problem persists for few months now. I have investigated various sources of error, and possible blind solutions but nothing seem to work. Below I describe my attempts to identify the exact nature of the problem and certain blind solution, and kindly ask you to forward suggestions to identify or solve the above problem.

I have learned(including from searching these forums) that the source of the problem can be many, and I have attempted to locate the problem, but with no success.

1. Server or ISP problem.

I only get this message at one website, but I need to use it daily. No problems anywhere else on the web. I did start using Lynksys wireless-g router this past summer and it may have been about that time the problem started. Any suggestions?

I keep getting a dns error for one particular site. I don't know what to do. This only started once I started using a wireless card.

Try this. It fixes websites that display the 'The page cannot be displayed' 'Cannot find server or DNS Error' http://www.fixieonline.com/pagefix/
