0x800ccc19 pop3 server hangs... by humour on September 21st, 2004 11:34:45 PM I like many others have experienced this problem. It is driving me bonkers. Anyone have a solution. I have tried everything this is a common problem. I even issued raw pop3 commands using telnet and can duplicate the problem, what happens is the email during the retr command just stops in the middle of a mime attachment. It only occurs when I am retrieving email using Look Communications as my ISP. The same pop3 server via my Rogers account works fine. |

Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by Anonymous Ghost on October 02nd, 2004 10:54:46 AM Cannot send e-mails bigger than 1350 bytes from OE 6.1 by Anonymous Ghost on Saturday, October 02nd, 2004 11:41:08 AM
After I bought SURECOM 4904SX router to create a network consisting
of one PC with Win98 SE & Outlook Express 6 and two notebooks with XP &
Outlook Express.
Having connected the hardware and also followed through the instructions,
the local net was successfully established. However, after the installation
I surprisingly have started to live a serious problem; I cannot send mails
bigger than 1350 bytes through any of the computer on the net. I have
checked all possible reasons such as security checks, our firewall (I even
disabled our Norton firewall) etc. but no success. The technical service that
I bought the router in Turkey could not help me because they say this is
the first time they are facing such a problem.
I will be grateful if anyone can help me on this matter. |

Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by Anonymous Ghost on October 13th, 2004 11:23:54 AM I too have had the same problem, and for the same amount of time, about a week now. I have called technical support at Rogers several times. Unfortunately I do not have any answers right now... but I know what it isn't. It is not the settings. The settings are all correct. It is NOT the router. I removed it. It is NOT any Anti-Virus programs... I temporarily removed it as well. And don't waste your time looking for any answers on the Rogers / Yahoo help ... there is nothing there. I suspect it has everything to do with Rogers moving all data to Yahoo servers. And one more thing... Where does Rogers get off moving Canadian data to American servers??? Can you say Patiot Act??? Sorry... off topic... If and when I find the answer to why Outlook Express can no longer communicate with the new servers... I will certainly remember to return and post the answer. Good luck to all. |
Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by Anonymous Ghost on October 13th, 2004 12:24:14 PM OK... after being on the telephone with Rogers level 2 support for the last hour... there is an "authentication problem" with the Yahoo servers... Yahoo techs have NOW been made aware of it and they say give it 24 hours and it will be OK... the work report going to Yahoo is # WSR01309672 in case anybody else needs to cut the chase directly to the issue... good luck. |

Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by eye_robot on January 10th, 2005 12:14:41 PM ok the problem is no matter what you do you cant login to your email account that you setup with sbc, the problem isnt your settings, the problem is that sbc uses your sbc name for the email address and your yahoo name as your login name on the server,as well as your yahoo password, you cant set this up yourself in outlook express and make it work because the self support tool is incapable of using a different email address and name to set up your account, so you need to go to live chat within the self support tool and have them do it for you, this is a serious problem and should be addressed by sbc, and yahoo. maybe with enough complaints they will rectify this. |
Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by eye_robot on January 11th, 2005 08:26:35 AM i also forgot to mention that you need to disable anti spam, antivirus, and firewall software before you set this up or it will not work, once you have it working you can turn these back on one at a time till you find out wether they will allow your connection to work, in my case norton internet security anti spam protection wasnt allowing me to use the connection even though it was working. |

Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by Anonymous Ghost on January 19th, 2005 01:58:41 PM mail files cannot be greater than 2GB. i'm just testing this to see if this fixes the problem for me. |
Re: Problem with Outlook Express 6 by Anonymous Ghost on January 19th, 2005 02:36:04 PM ok i fixed my problem. i thought it was yahoo related but this was a red herring ;-) it seems there is a problem with outlook using message rules filtering messages to a folder that has a .dbx file that has become huge (greater than 2GB). i fixed this by renaming the folder from aircraft to aircraft_old, creating a new folder called aircraft and then updated the message rule to filter messages to the new folder called aircraft. then it all worked. it seems that you can't move messages from the corrupted/huge folder - which would make sense. there is an application you can buy that fixes this problem if you really need the original folder called "easy outlook express repair" at http://mail-repair.com but i managed to fix it without paying anything and in just a few minutes ;-) |
