I used outlook express last week for the first time in a long while. It worked okay and synced up and downloaded the emails from my bellsouth.net account. Now all my emails in my inbox on my webmail at bellsouth .net are being deleted after about 30 seconds. They are not going into outlook express, I don't know where they are. I found if I Shut down my computer and go into my email from another computer the email stays in the account. When i access the email from my own computer they are deleted. What could be the cause? Could Outlook express be the cause? Help

Re: Disappearing email by Anonymous Ghost on April 05th, 2005 02:27:31 AM have you scheduled outlook express to download mails every 'X' minutes or do you have outlook express open? if yes, then that is the problem.
you can configure outlook express to download the mail but keep a copy of the mails on the server.
In outlook express
Click: Tools > Accounts > Mail
Select your account and click properties button
In the advanced tab check the checkbox which says 'leave a copy of message on server'
click ok. close all dialogs.

Re: Disappearing email by andy32901 on April 05th, 2005 07:46:33 PM I have configured OE to leave a copy on the server, and it is supposed to download every 30 minutes when I have it open, but my mail disappears after 30 sec to a minute. But that is the rub, I don't even have OE open because I don't normally use OE. I use Internet Explorer all the time to get my e-mail on Bellsouth.net |

Did you try this with any other web browser like Firefox on your machine? |
Re: Disappearing email by andy32901 on April 06th, 2005 07:01:33 PM An update on my disappearing e-mails. Bellsouth worked with me for about 2 hours checking settings in OE and Bellsouth e-mail. No luck. Then on a hunch I checked my Macafee Spamkiller. That is set to go out to check my e-mail for spam. I uninstalled Spamkiller and that corrected the problem. The email messages are staying in my Bellsouth inbox now. I did not see any of the old messages in the Spamkiller logs. Who knows where they are, but the problem seems to be corrected. Thanks everyone for your help.
