installing microsoft 97 SEConfiguration:
I would call myself a novice at computer knowledge, so I have a question to see if anyone can help me. I had my computer upgraded 6 months ago or so and had the tech guy fix a few problems I was having about 6 or 7 weeks ago. When it was worked on the tech guy removed all the software that was on my computer, I did not think much of it until I got the computer back and the microsoft office software was also gone and I had no software to replace it. I since obtained microsoft office 97 professional edition and have tried to install it. It will not install because when it looks at my hardware for any previous components it cannot find any. I get the message that "this is an upgrade and need previous components to complete the install or insert a diskette." I don't have a diskette with any office 97 components. Is there anyway I can install this software? Operating System : Mircosoft Windows 98 SE

since, you are getting this error, it simply means that the version you have is an upgrade version and you must have a previous version (older than office 97) already installed on your system.
either install a version older than office 97 or use an installation disk instead of upgrade disk to install office.

Just point to the office directory on the installation CD and it will think it has found a previous version!
Search the internet for CD Keys.
