Outlook 2000 can't send but can receiveConfiguration:
I have W2K professional, Outlook 2000 on a small network.
I connect to ISP (Bell Sympatico) via DSL modem, behind that I have Linksys 4 port router, on the network I have a P2 (also with W2K, Office 2000, ) and an AMD 2500.

I have been sending and receiving emails from the P2 and AMD without problem. About 2 weeks ago it started, the AMD can not send, although it can receive. The P2 can send /receive without problem.

I have reinstalled O2K on the AMD, applied all Office updates. I have created new accounts.

I have removed router from network and connected AMD directly to DSL modem and I can send and receive. I have shut off the DSL modem and

I put the router back in to create network, and can not send from AMD. I can telnet from AMD and P2 to the pop3 server and the smtp server fine.

I have changed the ports I plug the cables for the P2 and AMD into on the router ; I have even tried another NIC on the AMD. Nothing changes - still can not send on the AMD.

Do you have any suggestions???
Operating System : Microsoft Windows 2000 Prof

i also had very similar problem once and it got resolved in few days automatically. i kept my router switched off for 3 days and plugged it back in, and problem went away.
but i am not sure how did it get resolved, as when i had tried shutting the souter and for 5 min and pluggin it back in, there was no change in the situation.

try restting your router. it might help.

I have solved this at least for the moment.

My problem got worse. I tried OE and OL2000 on both machines and ended up unable to send on either machine.

Howeve, I could send when connected directly to the dsl modem (router removed from network). So I focused on the router.

Sure enough there was new firmware @ Aug 2004 (I was current @Jun 2004).
So I downloaded and applied the new firmware, reset the router and !!!! then
opened OE and sent messages queued in the outbox; then outlook same thing; then went to the other computer(AMD) and did same from OE then OL2000.

The router firmware needed an upgrade; or possibly the router had to be reset by pressing the reset for more than 30 secs.
