Re: computer viruses poss. memory leak & cpu spike to 100% by elijah5 on February 22nd, 2004 10:10:32 PM
I run the bare minimum of programs - and I notice several instances of Svchost.exe running (I realize this is a valid Windows 2000 app.). I am running Windows 2000 Pro. I shut down every program to the bare minimum needed to run - and whatever program I DO run spikes the CPU usage to 100%. I can no longer even view the documents in My Documents file, for example. I have the latest Norton Anti-Virus updates - no virus detected - even in safe mode - did several online scans (McAfee, Tendmicro) - to no avail. I have run Spybot S&D, and Ad-aware - removed all spyware. I use Zone Alarm firewall (free edition) & also have a router (Linksys). The other PC\\\'s on the network run fine, just not the main one. It slows to a snail\\\'s crawl so I can do nothing. Help me!

i have got sah agent on my computer. it disables my taskmanager and antivirus software. it crashes adaware or spybot.
I logged on to windows xp via the safe mode, there i could use the task manager and disable processes and delete files, but on restart some of them appeared again.

What could I do other then reformatting my hard drive?
