Re: Sysupdate.exe process -100%cpu usage by stevo123 on June 10th, 2004 03:04:21 PM i think my computer might have the same virus. im on a computer at school but i have a practically brand new computer it cost over 2 grand its top of the line products, i practically built it myself. there arent any problems with it until recently yesturday in fact i was playin a game on my computer and everything was fine then when i left and came back about a hour and a half later i restarted my computer and it seriously took it about 5 minutes. it usually takes about 15 seconds. i cant run any programs its like i think i have a virus that sucks up all my ram into one file and i cant run any other programs except my computer and control pannel. and i cant run norton antivirus to even tell if i have a virus. and i look at my computer properties and i still have over 70 gigabytes of hard drive left. i have a 1012 megs of ram. and just all of the sudden i just can run anything i try to click on a program on the desktop and it shows it as loading but then the little hour glass thing that says its loading just goes back to the mouse pointer. i tried opening windows media player and it actually said "cant open file, too low memory"... i didnt know what to do. so please reply to me.

When taskmanager comes up, second tab - processes.
Find the process that's taking all the time and kill it.
Look for others.
Don't kill system stuff.
You should also have started in safe mode by holding down the F8 key while Windows is starting.
Either way, you should be able to run the anti-virus and detect it. If not, you need a better anti-virus program.
By the way, what school spends $2,000.00 for a student's computer?
Gee, I might like to go there! |
