Re: winhlpp32.exe Virus by Anonymous Ghost on May 14th, 2004 10:21:56 PM i've done the same thing as you did. if i ever turn on the firewall, my slows down. so i turn it off when i'm downloading big files. i only turn the firewall on when i'm surfing. and yeah, i've encounter winhlpp32.exe as a gaobot worm with my norton av 2004. i managed to quarentine and delete it. but this winhlpp32 always show up when my firewall is off. my norton av did detect it as gaobot worm a couple of times. the first time, however, as i've told u b4, i can delete it. the 2nd time and so forth i apply full system scan but found nothing. strange. is this normal? |

Re: winhlpp32.exe Virus by Anonymous Ghost on July 27th, 2004 12:58:39 AM Hi, I am Dhanashri from India. I have this winhlpp32.exe virus in my system32 folder. I have win2k on my pc. I had Norton Antivirus 2003 installed previously which had detected this virus as gaobot worm when i was browsing the net. But it could neither clean the worm nor delete it. But kept on popping the warning messages. After 2 days like this, the Antivirus software got disabled on my machine & i was unable to install it again. I thought this could be due to the old version of the software. Now I installed latest version of M'Caffe & made it scan but it has strangely not detected the virus though i can still see the winhlpp32.exe file in the system32. Any idea what the problem with Maccaffe is? How do I remove this virus now? Please someone help me asap.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Dhanashri. |
Re: winhlpp32.exe Virus Solution by Anonymous Ghost on July 27th, 2004 08:40:35 AM The best thing to do:
Create a new text document on the desktop - winhlpp32.txt
Now, go to the command prompt using Run->command
cd\windows\desktop
ren winhlpp32.txt winhlpp32.exe
exit
Delete the file winhlpp32.exe from your windows directory.
Now cut this file from the desktop and paste in the windows directory
right click on this file, properties, set the attributes to read only.
This is the temporary solution. The virus will not come again... |
Re: winhlpp32.exe Virus by Anonymous Ghost on August 20th, 2004 10:28:43 AM Hi guys,
if you can't connect to Anti-virus web sites, check the hosts file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ or C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\). It may have been hijacked so that any attempt to contact a well known anti-virus site will get a 'page not found error'. You can manually edit the file using notepad to remove the erroneous entries. |
